Spiritual Thresholds: Why So Many People Are Awakening Right Now

There is a word I keep coming back to this time of year: threshold.

Not transformation. Not rebirth. Not glow-up. Threshold. The moment before. The place where you are standing with one foot still in the old life and one foot in something you cannot quite name yet.

That is where a lot of people are right now. And if you are one of them, I want you to know that what you are feeling is not random.

The Collective Shift We Are All Inside

We are living through a genuinely strange and destabilizing time. Old systems are cracking. Things that were supposed to be stable are not. And human beings, when the ground shifts beneath them, start reaching for something deeper.

They start asking questions they postponed for years. Is this really the life I want? What do I actually believe? Why do I feel like I am waiting for something?

This is not just personal. This is collective. Mystics, seers, and spiritual traditions across cultures have always understood that there are moments in history when the veil between what is visible and what is unseen grows thin. When the ordinary world loosens its grip long enough for people to feel something else underneath it.

We are in one of those moments.

Right now, we are in the middle of Passover, a holiday built entirely around the concept of crossing over, of leaving one kind of life behind and walking into the unknown. Easter just marked resurrection, death giving way to something new. The spring equinox happened two weeks ago, the exact moment the light overtook the dark. Every major tradition this season is telling us the same thing: something is ending, something is beginning, and the crossing itself matters.

The timing is not a coincidence.

Personal Thresholds Look Different for Everyone

I work primarily with women in midlife, and I see a particular kind of threshold show up again and again.

It is the woman who raised her kids and now doesn't know who she is outside of that role. The one who ended a long marriage and is standing in a life she doesn't recognize. The one who has a good job, a fine life, and an ache she cannot explain. The one who has started dreaming differently, noticing things she used to brush off, feeling pulled toward something she has no language for yet.

A threshold does not have to look dramatic. It rarely does. Most of the time it just feels like restlessness. Like the sense that something needs to shift even when you cannot identify what. Like you are waiting for permission to want something different.

That feeling is not a problem. It is information.

Why People Feel Called Right Now

When I use the word "called," I mean something specific. I mean the experience of being drawn toward something before you understand it rationally. A sudden interest in tarot. A pull toward meditation, toward ancestral work, toward asking questions about death and meaning and what happens after. A feeling that you need to talk to someone who can see what you cannot.

Being called does not mean you have to become a practicing witch or overhaul your life or leave your job and move to a cabin. It means something in you is ready for a conversation that your ordinary life is not having.

And it tends to happen at thresholds. During grief. During transitions. During the seasons when the world itself is in the middle of its own crossing.

Spring is one of those seasons.

What To Do When You Are Standing at the Threshold

First: trust that you are there for a reason.

Thresholds are not comfortable. They are not supposed to be. The Morrígan, one of the most ancient threshold figures in Celtic tradition, does not show up to make you cozy. She shows up when it is time to move. She is the crow on the fence post, the fog on the road, the moment right before you make the choice that changes everything.

She is not there to frighten you. She is there because you are ready.

If you are feeling called and you do not know where to start, a reading can be a good place to bring it. Not because I will tell you what to do, but because sometimes the most useful thing is to have someone sit with you in the question. To help you see what is already moving underneath the surface.

That is what I do. Psychic readings, mediumship sessions, and energy work, in person in Chicago and virtually anywhere.

If something in this post landed for you, that is probably not an accident either.
